Great Names

We usually give our children names we love and ones that others would like and receive well.  Our heavenly Father has given us some wonderful names to share, which also describe His love for us and our relationship with Him!

Christian – Acts 11:26, 26:28; 1 Pet 4:16 – We are followers of Christ.  We are members of the Body of Christ.  A name of scorn for some, but honor for the believer.

Saints – Rom 1:7, 8:27; 1 Cor 1:2, 14:33 – Saints or “holy ones” appears 61 times in the NT.  God has sanctified us, set us apart for service and pronounced us as “holy.”

Priests – 1 Pet 2:5 – We are a holy priesthood and called by God to offer up spiritual sacrifices to God.

Children – Rom 8:16; Eph 5:1,8; Phil 2:15 – We are born into God’s family (John 3:3-5; Titus 3:5) and are called children of God.

Family – Eph 3:14-15 – We are part of God’s family.

What a privilege and honor!  What great names we bear by the grace of God.  So, remember who you are and where you are going.
