His Spirit Was Being Provoked

“Now while Paul was waiting for them (Silas and Timothy); at Athens; his spirit was being provoked within him as he was observing the city full of idols. Acts 17:16. This resulted in Paul reasoning with Jews in the synagogue, with God-fearing Gentiles and people in the market place.

Paul’s spirit was being provoked because:

He loved God.

He loved the gospel.

He desired to share the gospel.

He was opposed to idolatry and sin.

He believed that everyone needs to repent. Acts 17:30.

He believed God will judge the world. Acts 17:31

Has your spirit ever been provoked? Has your soul ever stirred within you to warn others who are in sin, or share the gospel with the lost? If not, maybe your faith needs a shake up. Let us pray that we can be provoked like Paul to do something instead of nothing to help change the world we find ourselves in.
